My thoughts are that if you want to charge or be creative in taxing us cyclists then we should get equal footing on the transit system instead of just throwing us the scraps.  If they go for a full out  Copenhagen or Amsterdam style infrastructure build, I would actually be OK with it.  But in order to do that US cities like Portland, Madison, etc need to close some of their downtown streets to auto traffic and create pedestrian/bicycle ways the are separate.  I’d love to be able to ride everywhere with the wife and kids in some of these great cities.

It may happen some day soon.

Funny side thought: What happens to their tax revenue when driverless cars take over and I no longer own/need a car?
